| Arnold Arboretum - Harvard University - The Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879, comprises both a museum and a school. The original, core beaux-arts building was built in 1893 to be used as an auxiliary meeting place for the World's Columbian Exposition and to become the permanent home of the Art Institute. The museum houses more than 300,000 works of art within its 10 curatorial departments. Among its great treasures are the legendary artworks "A Sunday Afternoon on La Grande Jatte" -1884 by Georges Seurat, "American Gothic" by Grant Wood, "Nighthawks" by Edward Hopper and 33 paintings by Claude Monet. |

| The British Museum- The British Museum is one of the greatest museums of the world. It was founded by Act of Parliament in 1753 and is now governed under the British Museum Act 1963. General management and control are vested in a Board of twenty-five Trustees (one appointed by the Sovereign, fifteen by the Prime Minister, four nominated by Learned societies and five elected by the Trustees themselves. |
| Cleveland Botanical Garden- Cleveland Botanical Garden was founded in 1930 as the Garden Center of Greater Cleveland. The Garden Center began with an extensive collection of garden books donated by Mrs. Andrew Squire. Originally, housed in an abandoned boathouse on Wade Park lagoon in front of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Garden Center’s purpose was to have a space to hold a collection of books where "anyone may come to receive information on horticulture and gardening." In 1966, the Garden Center moved to its present location on East Boulevard, the site of the old Cleveland Zoo. Remnants of the old bear pit still remain and have been transformed into beautifully landscaped flower show gardens and a woodland garden. |
| DeGolyer Library- Today the DeGolyer Library holds 100,000 volumes of rare and scholarly works devoted to the exploration and discovery of the Americas, Western Americana, the Spanish borderlands, and Texana. The library also possesses materials related to transportation history, especially railroads worldwide. In addition to printed books, the library preserves 5000 cubic feet of manuscript material and 400,000 photographs. |

| National Maritime Museum- The National Maritime Museum is the largest institution of its kind in the world, with over 2,000,000 items related to seafaring, navigation and astronomy in its care.
