The earrings were inspired by a string of beads in the shape of a “Nefer” hieroglyph. Found by William W. Flinders Petrie on an excavation in 1921, it is now in the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology's Egyptian collection.
The charms created for the necklace imitates the shape of “Nefer” sign, which means goodness and beauty. These adornments were intended to symbolically transfer such attributes to the wearer.
